Wintertime Ryme

You get off to such a fine start.

With Thanksgiving and Christmas, that first snowfall is a work of art.

But you overstay your welcome as your beauty quickly fades into a massive filthy slushy and white glaze of salt.

Your refreshing chill turns bitter, and you must be removed, or everything comes to a sudden halt.

Days begin in the dark and quickly retreat back into the blackness.

Causing us to feel unproductive and desire high doses of carbs and snacks because we feel our own slackness.

There are winter sports and things to do outdoors if you don’t mind freezing you’re a__ off.

So, we stay in our toasty box like one under house arrest, nursing a persistent cough.

But hope springs forth.

Just a big tease reminding us that you could reappear at any time. Nice days are still a longway off because we live in the north.

The Danish practice hygge (pronounced hoo-gah), is a quality of comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment and well-being.

But I am not Danish, though I love their pastry, but with winter, I am not agreeing.
